Why: The Premiers Smart Awards celebrate the States innovative organisations, including those businesses that have implemented sustainable practices. In line with this mandate and the State Governments ClimateSmart 2050 Queensland climate change strategy 2007: a low-carbon future, it was the intent of the Department of Tourism, Regional Development & Industry to minimise climate change risks posed with its own activities and particularly the direct and indirect GHG emissions generated by the staging of the Awards. The purpose of this project was to provide a GHG emissions accounting and reduction framework for use in managing emissions associated with the staging of the Smart Awards.
